Polling Schedules |
Note
If Events are selected as the Data Acquisition Method (Polling Settings in the Global menu), this Polling Schedules function is not displayed in the Scheduling menu, since events have no Template Schedules or Polling Schedules–transactions are processed as they occur.
If Schedules is selected as the Data Acquisition Method (Polling Settings in the Global menu), the Polling Schedules function determines when, and how often, Valiant’s servers should solicit punch data from the installed data collection devices. After creating a schedule, you must assign the device(s) that will follow the schedule.
In this tab you can create a new Schedule and/or new polling parameters.

For reference, a list of current Schedules and related parameters may be selected from the drop-down box.
When an existing Schedule is selected, the related parameters (Start Time, End Time, Frequency (in minutes), and Days of the week) are displayed. |

To create a new schedule:

1. Click
2. Enter a Name for the new
Schedule in the related text box, then click |

3. The system will display an appropriate message. Click |

Note A new schedule is considered to be "unlocked"; i.e., any device may be assigned to it.
4. Click

5. Enter the Start and End times that the Schedule will be in effect. |

7. Enter the polling frequency (in minutes) in the text box for each day.

You may create more than one set of parameters for
a Schedule. Click 
to display an additional parameter row for the selected
Schedule and make your selections as described above.

To delete a parameter row, click in the desired row to highlight it

1. Select the desired Schedule from the drop-down box.

The second phase of the Polling Schedules function is to assign a device to one of the available Schedules.

1. Select the Assign Devices tab.
2. Select the desired Schedule from the Select Schedule drop-down box.
3. Display the devices available for assignment from the Available Devices drop-down list.
4. Select the device(s) to be assigned to the Schedule.

Once devices are moved to the Assigned
Devices list, reverse arrows are enabled. To
return a device to the unassigned list, highlight (click on) the device
and click

To return all devices to the Unassigned
Devices list at the same time, click 
.
Newly created schedules are "unlocked" – no device is yet assigned to them. When you assign a device (Normal or Master) to a new schedule, the schedule becomes "locked" to that Device Type. If you assigned a Normal device, only Normal devices are displayed in the Available Devices list. Likewise, if you assigned a Master device, only Master devices are displayed (and assignable) in the Available Devices list for the schedule.
